The heat output of a stove is measured in Kilowatts (kW). The output you require is dependent on the size of the room to be heated. To identify the output you require simply measure the Length, width and height of the room you wish to heat in either Meters or feet and enter below

Room measurements:

Length:  Width:  Height:  In:

kW's needed.

Please note that this calculator is designed to give you a general guide and should not be taken as the exact output you need!. The ability of a stove to heat your room will be affected by such aspects as the number of doors or windows (including patio) in the room, or other draft sources and the general insulation of the building. In these cases you may need to look at a stove with a greater output.

For those people looking to buy a stove more for the look rather than the heat output should ensure that you do not buy a stove with an output too large for your room. Doing so may cause you to have to run the stove at lower output, resulting in poorer efficiency, possible flue problems including consendation and reduced visual appeal due to smaller flames and under performing airwash. You are better to have a stove that has slightly less output than you require so that the stove is working hard all the time, resulting in more flames and cleaner glass.
