Hetas Installers

HETAS Stove Installer

What is HETAS?

HETAS is the official body recognised by Government to approve solid fuel domestic heating appliances, fuels and services including the registration of competent installers and servicing businesses. Its work in approving products covers boilers, cookers, open fires and stoves and room-heaters.

Can I Install A Stove Myself?

Yes- You can install astove yourself however you must following the guidelines as well as the manufacturers instructions. If you install a stove yourself then you must inform the building control officer at your local council. The council will arrange for a HETAS registered inspector to visit and carry out a survey of the work that has taken place.

If the work is satisfactory then the stove will be signed off and you will be issues with a HETAS Certificate by the inspector. Please note there is a charge for this service and can be in the region of Approx £150.

Would You Reccomend that we use a HETAS Installer?

Yes 100%- The reason we reccomend that you use an installer is the fact that these guys do this for a living! They are skilled workmen who have undertaken tests set out by HETAS.

A HETAS approved installer will have the skills and the experiance to install your stove safely and to a very high standard. A HETAS installer will be able to safely install your stove and will have the knowledge to overcome any problems that arrise during the installation.

A Hetas installer will be able to self certify the installation and will be able to provide you with the HETAS certificate on the day of the installation. Technically if you have to wait for the building control officer to come out then you should not use the stove until you have been cleared to do so!

Do I Really Need a HETAS Certificate? Whos Going to know?

This is an easy one- While its possible you may go undetected it doesnt mean thats the end of it. A HETAS certificate is alegal document and is also required to be presented to your insurance company if required. Should there be a problem and the worst happens and HETAS do not have a record of a Hetas certificate at the property then Im afraid it can null and void your insurance!

What do I do with the Certificate?

Keep it safe! It may be required for the house insurance. When an installer provides you with a certificate he will keep a copy for him self and the third copy will go to HETAS who will keep it on file in case of a request from an insurance company etc.

Do You reccomend any installers or have your own?

We no longer have our own installers we simply provide the numbers of installers in our area. We are building up a database of installers so we will soon be able to provide a full list of installers all over the UK.
